Painting bottom on the trailer

Hi all, I'm a new 7.9 owner and would like to paint the bottom while the boat is on the trailer in my driveway this Spring. Just curious about any advice/suggestions on how to raise the boat a few inches off the trailer rollers in order to paint?

The previous owner said he would pull the boat back a half a foot, rolling it back toward the back of the trailer, but that makes me nervous, anyone with trailer rollers tried that?

I found the two links below. The one post suggests to lower the trailer tongue, put jack stands under stern and then raise the tongue. That sounds like it might work, has anyone had success with that? What are the strongest places under the stern that can take the most load? Any suggestions on how to spread the load?

Also, for the front, similarly, I think I might try raising the tongue, placing stands under the bow and then lowering the tongue. Again, any suggestions on where to place the stands under the bow to make sure the stands don't damage the hull?

If anyone has pictures of doing this, that would be great.

Roll it off the back of the trailer, Set you cable and safety line 6” to a foot. Two of us with roller trailers do this every year to roll VC17, have done it over a decade with no issues. Good luck.

A good spot to place the stands would be under the bulkhead, which divides the space under the cockpit and the cabin. It would be nice to hear other's opinions regarding this suggestion.

Just wanted to follow up in case anyone else finds this post and is wondering about doing this. Pulling the boat back 6 inches on the trailer worked fine. This is probably obvious, but make sure to keep the tongue attached to your tow vehicle because the trailer will become unbalanced with the boat sitting off the end. Also probably obvious, but I tied a line from a tree to the back of the boat and it was helpful to get the line slightly higher up the tree than the height of the boat so that it pulls up and back instead of down and back.

I was thinking about doing this a while back but I didn't know all the details so I didn't bother. Cheers for sharing your insights, Dave. I'll give this a shot for sure. The weather is perfect for a paint job.
