Mainsheet size

Post by Photobug »

I visited my boat and found my mainsheet to be about 2 feet short of being able to reach the shrouds. So I can order the right sized replacement, can anyone tell me what sized line and how long should a mainsheet be on my boat?

Factory spec was 60' of 3/8" sta-set. But many owners have downsized to a higher tech 5/16 and/or modified the mainsheet tackle.

Thanks, Jim

If I went to a high tech 5/16" would I need to change out hardware from the original?

No, it should just run a little freer -- but it's harder to grip. A trade-off, like most things on a sailboat.
