Companionway Trim Lace

Post by Sam Buschell III »

Hello,

Does anyone know of a source for the companionway trimlace?
The rubber trim piece that covers the raw edge around the companionway.
Ours is looking it's 34 years.

Thanks,
Sam

I know where to buy in Canada. But I am sure you can track elsewhere.
I replaced mine two years ago.
Check the size needed.

Old thread but figured I'd help future people. I ordered a set of sample rubber trim bits from McMaster-Carr and ended up buying their part number 8451A13 "Heavy Duty Plastic Trim, Style 7". It's black rubber molding with a (I think) metal interior. Might hit the ends with some hot glue or something to keep moisture out.

It fits snug but goes on well, and holds on great. It's black in color, which is honestly fine. My companionway hatch slides are black so this kind of works. Hopefully won't look gross in a few years like the original white stuff did.

I ordered 10 feet thinking I would have a few inches left over. I guess I mismeasured, it ended up about 2 inches short. You can order the stuff by the foot, should probably order 11 or 12 feet to be safe, and cut off the rest. In my case the amount needed for full coverage was exactly the length of the sample bit they sent in the sample kit so I stuck it on the end and called it a day.
