Don

We did not have plywood boards on our boat. They were solid. however I built new ones from some teak I had laying around. It is not too difficult to do.

I had new ones made from Plexiglass, never need to deal with them again.

Ours are teak also. I highly recommend it. It easy to make them from a plank. You can probably pick up some teak at Rings End. Home Depot doesn't carry it. There are also some places online from which you can order it.

I like the idea of louvers.

Ours are 3 pieces of solid teak. All the boards have beveled edges, and the top board has a cut out beveled section about 1' long in the center that acts as a vent. A little Cetol every other year and they are in great shape.
