Lifeline Stanchion Angle

Post by Dale Eager »

When I pulled my stanchions this weekend to re-bed, I noticed the forward stanchions, which always looked like they were bent outward, stand straight if reversed. Is this normal, a mistake, or an intentional 'mod'. Was this done perhaps to assist skirting the genoa?

Answering my own question. I discovered in the S279triv.pdf document the forward stanchion angle is zero degrees. So I guess my stanchions are bent 2 or 3 degrees. It is funny how they appear to be vertical when reversed, though.

Dale,
My stanchions are the same as yours.
I put them on backwards after refinishing them and it wasn't real obvious until I had to put the lifelines back on that they were slightly bent in. Next time I re bed them I'll reverse them.
Take care.

Jim, I found the S279triv.pdf file (and additional useful information) on the Fleet 7 web pages. Follow the 'Fleet Locations' link on the main page (www.sailingsource.com/s279).
