Sling Location Points

Post by Doug Stuart »

Could someone please provide me with the correct locations for slings on the boat for a hoist to complete the antifouling process. Are there any other considerations to look out for?

Doug -

A bit of this answer depends on the geometry of the lifting rig. (the length of the straps, the dimensions of the lifting beam or box, if you're using one at all, etc). The ideal lifting points are about 2 feet in front of the board and between the cabin top and the primry winches. Note: Ideal conditions rarely exist.
Very often you will need to tie the aft strap to prevent it from ooching forward. This is especially true if you're lifting from a single point (less than ideal by a long shot.) Use a good size line to tie the center of the strap to the pintles.
We usually run the straps inside the lifelines.
Good luck
And we'd very much appreciate you joining the class association if you've not already done so. I realize that the posted list isn't always perfectly up to date. Thanks.
Best wishes,
