perfect paint match

Post by grandillusion »

my 1983 # 216 is Erimine white I believe, as are all 7.9's up till 1990??? I have discovered that Interlux brand "Hatteras off white (1990)" looks to be a dead on match for tuch up, but let it dry for 2 days or more before sanding and buffing

You can get the original Ermine White gelcoat from Minicraft, http://www.minicraft.com/, I had them add the wax for easy sanding but it suppose to reduce shelf life to a few months. Store it in the fridge, it will last a long time.

correct, minicraft has a matching gel coat their number is #766 wx 118
its listed as a Tiara color, but its the "Ermine White" used by S2 (Tiara) through the 80's. I've been told, but haven't confirmed that Catalina used the same gel color for many of thier boats as well.

Paint color

Sorry, but "Hatteras Off white" is way too yellow to match the color of my 1982 7.9. Arctic white is closer.

I thought all earlier boats were the same color, I fixed a gouge in my hull with the off "Hatteras white 1990" and from 3 feet away it looks factory, it has to say "Hatteras off white 1990"
