My cover of my centerboard has a cracked cover.
Should I use lexan if so where do I get it?
Has anyone used something more UV and Step proof like SS, Fiberglass, brushed aluminium?
Lexan seems like its not too step proof any ideas on what to use and where to get it?
Replace Centerboard Cover - best material?

I used polycarbonate(Lexan) on ours. It worked great. We have been using it for 4 years. people step on it all the time. I just used the old one as a template. If you go with Lexan brand you will pay more.
I couldn't find solid colors so we went with smokey grey. It is nice to be able to glance down and see where the keel is.
I can't remember where I got it it was on the east coast. If you google polycarbonate you will find a source.
Hope that helps.

lexan and polycarb sources
You might try doing a search on ebay. The sizes needed are small and some of the abay sellers are looking to unload their scraps of small pieces. Also, lexan is preferred over polycarb and is used frequently in hatch covers.

I replaced mine with 3/8" thick aluminum, had it powdercoated white. I have a block mounted on the forward one for the boomvang, so I couldn't use the plastic. Drawback is you can't see the board, so I mark the line and know how far up it is.
Polycarbonate should work well if it's just a cover. Make sure it's UV rated, it only cost penny's more.
