Fore guy

Post by David E »

In looking at the drawings on dopierce 7.9, I am unable to distinguish exactly where the fore guy swivel block is attached. Does it snap to the pulpit?
If this is true, they gibing the pole would require switching sides would it not?
I am thinking of installing a track from the forward hatch on the centerline to attach a block. There seems no way to get a pull toward the deck on the fore guy without this.

The swivel is on the cabin top just forward of the mast. Be glad to email you a picture.[/img]

That is where it is on our boat, but it is too far aft too have the bridle pulled down toward the deck. It tends to be pulled aft more than down, which seems to prevent a proper set.

We were considering a small track on deck or perhaps securing a "traveler" made of 5/16 line, made to the toerails just forward of the hatch with a block to allow it to move side to side depending upon the pole's position.

Just remember, these changes would currently not be allowed to be used in class one design racing, but some have elimenated the down haul and keep the tweekers on, to control the pole from going skyward. This is allowed. Jeff (Skyhawk #250)
