We just got a new main made for our boat and upon putting it up for the first time, could tell it was different from our old main that came with the boat. The leech seemed to be longer resulting in the boom being a little low and it was much skinnier at the top (no roach like before). The luff is the same length as the old one. The new main is a Sobstad and Im guessing they just took the class dimensions and built the sail. My question is, are there negatives to this? What is the reason for the larger roach up top?
