main flaking for sole sailing

Post by Hoff179 »

Help I am new to 7.9 . I would like to do mostly sole sailing. My problem is when I have to flake the main. When lowering the main it comes completely out of the mast track (luff and head). This is great for racing sails and a crew but not for me. The luff use a thin line and not slugs so I do not know how to add a track stopper. Any suggestions so the luff and head gather at the tack and not on the deck.
Thanks for your suggestions

Lazy Jacks help a lot.

Lazy jacks & Dutchman system are always great to have. If is blowing the head and luff will still get out of the lazy jacks. I am thinking of sewing slides on the main. Any additional thoughts?
thanks

Well, that main would no longer be "class legal" -- oversize by an inch or more, but if you're not racing it doesn't matter.

I found the lazy jacks to be enough help.
