board up while moored?

Post by donnyo »

I just painted the bottom and would like a clean foil for a few weeks or more. Is the box and cabin built to sustain loading of board up for a sustained lenght of time without stressing the cabin top or cassette..

All the boats in my area are wetsailed and we all keep our boards up. I keep the tang pinned to take the load off the keel line and blocks.

I do the same thing as Dale. Pin it to unload the tackle.
Best wishes,

The harken cheek block used to turn the rope and lead it aft on my boad warped the balls after two weeks of having the board supported by it. Be careful with your bearings.

Is there a hole in the cabin in which one slides a pin? Where exactly does one pin the board "up"?

Hi, when the board is all the way up, the stainless tang (that the block and tackle are attached to, that also runs the full length inside the keel), comes up throught the top of the deck. You can line up the hole in the tang and the hole in the block on the deck, then run a pin through it and release the tension on the line. Use a strong pin or screw close to the diameter of the holes. Jeff (Skyhawk #250)
