Charleston Race Week-good news/bad news

Post by Avalon »

Well the bad news first; Avalon can't make the St. Pete NOODS, 'cause the Miami Boat Show is the same weekend (I really wish they could be on opposite weekends)

The good news; Charleston Race Week (April 8-10) is going to be HUGE this year. Many more fleets, and 3 courses. The good news for 7.9's is that one of the courses for the big boats will be on the ocean and give us more room!

I'm real busy this year, but have been trying to help coordinate the fleet for CRW, but let me know how I can help so that we get a big fleet again!
Drop your boat off in Charleston after the NOODS and store it for free!

Thanks to everyone who came to Charleston to help make Race Week one of the most challenging regattas I’ve had in some time. Racing was close and positions changed with every leg. It seemed every boat had her good and not-so-good races, which gave everyone a shot at the money going into the final day. Congratulations have to go to Paul and the Itch crew for putting together such a dominating performance.

This regatta reminded me again why the 7.9 is such a great class and what a nice bunch of people they are.
I’m sorry I didn’t have a chance to see everyone before you went home, but hope you all had a good time and come back again next year.

7.9'ers:

Charleston RW was my first 7.9 regatta, sailing with Bob Fleck on Horizon. Fantastic event, great group of people, top-notch competition!! It was great meeting some of the 7.9 skippers and crew and racing against all of you. Congratulations to the crew of Itch for a masterfully sailed regatta. For those who missed CRW, you should put it on your calendar for next year.
