Dear 7.9'ers -
I just took delivery of hull # 585 (from Holland, MI) here in Sandusky, Ohio. I've got the mast up and tuned, and can't wait to take it out for a sail. Unfortunately, the dagger board won't cooperate. It seems to be stuck in the "up" position: the tackle & line in the trunk seem to be in good shape, and I've tried to lube it with boat soap to free it up. So far, no luck.
Can I "persuade" it (ie, whack it) without doing damage to board or trunk?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
You can call me at 419-625-8654 or email @ soliver@heidelberg.edu
Thanks, and you are all welcome at the Sandusky Sailing Club.

stuck board
Is the bottom of the board free and clear to drop? Will it move up but not down? We usually drop ours the 10-12" on the trailer, then pull it up prior to launch. These things are easier to debug out of the water.

Dear 7.9'ers -
Thanks to all who straightened me out. It was (blush) the pin. My only defense is that before I emailed you folks, I asked both a former 7.9 owner and a dealer who had sold and raced them. these individuals shall remain nameless to protect the guilty.
Everyone who responded was so helpful that the least I can do to show my gratitude is to join the Class Association.
Thanks again, Skip Oliver
