new boat owner

Post by grandillusion »

September 22, 2006 I purchased 1983 hull # 216 OB in Peoria IL, known names are Huza and Bannana Wind, from Milwaukee, WI I renamed her Grand Illusion, and am working on bringing the boat back up to par, the last owner was bairly a sailor, and not very good with marine hardware, but it is in pretty good shape all things considered. I was able to sail it once before we put it up for the winter, and it was an AWSOME 11 hour night sail, look forward to joining the class association

Your "new" 7.9

Post by Bob Kirsten »

Welcome to this excellent family of 7.9 sailors,

We have owned our 7.9 (DD Mau on Lake St Clair) for about 7 years, after enjoying a J24. We have found this boat great to race, but also wonderful for family day sailing and cruising on the Great Lakes.

This website has also been the most responsive and informative on any subject about the 7.9 that you will find anywhere. When you have questions, just post them to the site, and you can expect quick response, and from very knowledgable sailors who will readily share their experiences.
