The folding prop on my IB seems very sloppy. The blades do not close unless I fold them from underneath by hand and then I am not sure if they stay closed.
I sail in light air with heavy current and have found the drag to be too much if the prop is not fully closed. I have started putting a small rubberband on to be sure it stays shut but this is a bit of a pain. I am considering reaming the bore and installing a larger pin but I don't want to introduce new problems. I would love to know if anyone else has had similar experiences and how they addressed it.

Send the prop into Martec and let them do it for you. Mine came back looking like new, polished, re balanced, re-bored with an oversized pin. I also had them send me extra cotter pins, a key and a bullet zinc for the shaft. (Do NOT use off-the-shelf stainless pins to put the prop back together). The whole package cost me about $150 and they got it back to me by the date I requested. Works much better now, smoother, more power and reverse is a lot more effective.
