S2 Canadians

Post by Spike Boston »

Sarnia Yacht will once again be hosting the S27.9 2008 Canadians Championships.

Date: Saturday and Sunday June 28-29
If there is enough interested, we could race Friday after noon as well.

Last year we ran this regatta over 3 days, had 13 races in 48 hours, 3 good parties.

HUNTING PARTY 448 will be at the S2 CANADIANS.

I will add to my plea from the Detroit Nood thread, what will it take to get more boats up to Sarnia for this regatta??? Please post your suggestions and concerns. The past 2 years we have raced 11 and 12 races over the 2 1/2 day regatta. The entry fee is minimal, launching and dockage is free, and the Boston's organize a great social event after racing. No passports are required, just a driver's license and a birth certificate to get into Canada. There are a handful of hotels within 10 minutes of the club.

Years ago in the J/22 fleet we had a "rig tunning seminar" at the dock to assist others on how to set their boats up. Some find rig tunning very frustrating, I know I did, which may keep folks from participating. Another idea is to have a "coach" go from boat to boat throughout Friday's races to help out new fleet members (sail trim, crew positioning, starting techniques, boat setup ideas, etc.). We all started out at some point in our early days of sailing with many questions and Sarnia would be a great venue to get some answers. Low entry fee and great fun!

Just a few ideas in order to help out, which I will do.

I would love to come, but am trailerless. If anyone knows of a trailer for sale or knows of a loaner for weekend regattas (i.e. Nationals), please let me know.
