Windows

Post by LarryE-old »

My windows are scratched and turning a greyish. I know I can't make them like new but has anyone found anything to improve them.
They don't leak, so I'm not up to replacing them. I replaced a window on a 7.9 once and don't want to do four, just for looks.

I have gotten rid of some pretty ugly scratches in lexan and plexiglass by wetsanding and buffing BUT, if you sand out the deeper ones and then buff to a shine the image through the window is then distorted because the surface isn't flat anymore. For simple bringing the clarity back try a fine rubbing compound like Perfect It II after wetsanding the window with 1000, 1500 and 2000 grit wet or dry paper.

Larry,

Can you tell me how you replaced your window? My windows are all cracked and scrated badly, they just have to go.

There is a whole article on the main page.
Go to the main page
Click on Other Info.
Go down and click on windows.

We replaced a cracked window on Magic. Not that easy to do and messy.

Good luck!!

Unless I missed something on the "other info" page, what is the recommended thickness of the lexan?

Don't use anything less than 5/16" if you want them to be "foredeck elephant" proof!
