center board

8) With low water in the vermilion river (ohio) i've had to raise our ctr board up about half way to get out to lake erie. When out, the board seems to thump the boat until we lower the board again. Upon entering the harbor the ctr board seems to be jammed as I try to raise it, I finally see-saw the line until I have free movement. As a 3rd year owner, in the past Ihave left the board down all season. Does any one Know of a fix for a more free movement of keel.

Actually, the board is designed to "lock" down. It's designed as a wedge so when you lower it, it naturally sticks in place. In fact I have my crew "drop" it the last 1.5 feet to get it as fully down as possible.

As for changing it, you'd have to reshape the trunk so that it's not wedge shaped, or somehow work out some spacers. I don't think either would be easy to do and still retain the same depth.
