St. Pete

Does anyone know what is happening with the launch area at St. Pete?
There was talk that the area was being developed for a new stadium.

There is no construction at this time except for some sidewalk repairs fro what I saw a few days back. I talked to a guy at the sailing center and he was unaware of any issues regarding the park entrance from Bay street.

Jeff, Thanks for the update. I had heard on Sailing Anarchy that it might be a problem.

Happy New Year to all! With that said, St. Pete is getting closer but not close enough.

We'll see you there!

Kaotic (my ) crew met, there was excitement about the opportunity, but I would need to buy a new set of sails (maybe one time use) which would meet class rules. My present sails are cut to fit 31'10" headstay lenght and 32" of mast rake for which mainsail is config. A shortened headstay (w/ using our present sails), would not allow our headsail luff to be adjusted, as the head would hit the sheave and disallow adjustment.

I believe Kaotic is set up for PHRF and could not qualify Class Regs.. However we've discussed coming down and watching or entering a PHRF Fleet if possible.

JP, thanks for your assistance in this matter !!
how about you sew a webbing strap loop as far up from the tack on the headsail as needed to make class luff length and tack the sail there? Then it would be just a matter of having a legal headstay to rig at The NOODs and back to your long stay for PHRF.

It was mentioned earlier that there are several boats in the area; Question; would any of those be available for charter?

You might want to contact Bill Dixon dixonwj@comcast.net He's the local handicapper in Punta Gorda, has a 7.9 and knows all the other owners.

Also, Jason, absoluteaudioinc@comcast.net is an 7.9 owner in Naples, just south of the Punta Gorda area.

I am a new S2 7.9 "wannabe", in Belleair, Fl, near St. Pete and would like to get a crew spot for the Nood.

Hey You NOOD guys! Consider leaving your boat down here in Florida and come down in March (7th & 8th) for the 16th Conquistador Cup Regatta in Charlotte Harbor. Around 70 boats, two days of racing, at least seven S2s, great parties. Let me know if you are interested and we can help work out the logistics.

Anyone looking for crew? Two experienced sailors looking for a ride. We have our flight and hotel, but our ride has fallen through. We will be in town Wednesday night and can help with boat prep and/or go out for a shakedown sail on Thursday. Please send me an email if interested jaswim225@hotmail.com
