Make that 2009 .
I don;t think I will be around for the 2209 CCR unless it is sailed on part of the lake that my ashes will be dumped in.

As much as I would love to have the CCR closer to home in NY, I think that MBYC for 2009 makes sense for the class.

Nashville's numbers, although down from recent CCRs, were commendable considering the price of gas, the economy as a whole, and the change from August to Sept. The numbers would have been down at any location. Rotating the CCR to the non-great lakes should be encouraged by the class and supported by racers attendance.

That said, it also makes sense to regularly return the CCR to the Great Lakes where the majority of the actively raced 7.9's are located. Perhaps it should be come general practice (written or not) that the CCR will be held on the great lakes at least every other year. At the same time, it only is fair that a sound proposal for a CCR not on the Lakes, Rochester for example, should be welcomed by the class.

Not sure if I'm getting blonde. Hair's not long enough to tell.

Sorry about the geography inaccuracy. I must be getting delirious from my brain backing in the hot San Diego sun.

I guess I should have said, the Great Lakes bordered by Michigan. Or "The Central Great Lakes" .

For pointing out my error, I change my mind. CCR's should never be on a body of water convenient to Michigan . As we all know, ALL MI boats have trailers. We know this because of all the Ice that you have in the winter. Without it where would you put the boat for the 6 months of winter. So, it only makes sense that since there is the highest concentrations of 7.9's able to travel, they should always travel to locations that are sunny and warm, where 7.9's don't have/need trailers.

later :D

Hellllooo;
Let's hear from our dear friends from Minnesota.

We have one vote from our fearless leader for Sept.
My sailing plans were predicated that we would be back north and sailing at our regular time frame.
I am very happy that it might be a Sept. regatta because Jeff P. Has an Etchells and may be sailing there.
One thing that this dilemma does highlight is that we need to have a 3 to 5 year plan for the hosting of the CCR.
We are not the only game in town.Heck even though we are in a RECESSION there are lots of regattas being scheduled.A Lot of our members have other racing interests than my favourite S2 7.9.
Let's get our S tuff together.
I was very pleased that Jeff P. stepped up to the plate while we were in the Nash.A breath of FRESH AIR is required.As a class, any class, needs to pay attention to things such as newsletters, a rotating CCR, affordable class events and foremost a creative and proactive board that actually does function as a group that is a total reflection of the entire class. Not just our racers.I have not seen a picture of our cruisers for a while now.

Hi;
That would be Mr. Padnos for the Etchells and Jeff Pawlowski for our newest board member.
Sorry. I even confused myself.

2009 CC Regatta

For what it's worth at this late hour:

MBYC is great for us: a short 70 NM hop straight across the lake from Racine, Wis. Gets the delivery and cruising urges out of our bones and readies us for the serious sailing.

The challenge for my boat is the dates: Mid-July takes both my trimmers away to a 50-footer doing both Mac races. In mid-September, my son, and my foredeck guru, is away in Minneapolis at U-M and racing on Lake Wobegon with those Norwegian bachelor farmers (actually collegiates).

Either way, it's difficult to cast my vote - but I'm glad to see the CCR back in Holland, the birthplace of our sea-going mistresses, especially now that they may be back in production.

For what it's worth, Holland is doable for me (set up and go from Manitowoc or perhaps load 'er on the ferry) but Rochester would be logistically too difficult for me this year.

What's the latest with the CCR? Are the plans still in motion? We haven't heard anything on the topic since Feb. 11, it is now July 3rd. The CCR is only two months away. Discounts on hotels? Online registration? Price? Meals/Banquet? Boats planning on attending?...........
