There is no mechanism for securing my spinnaker pole on the deck currently. We have been racing PHRF non-spin so it has not been an issue. What is the preferred way/device to "park" the pole on deck between uses?
Thanks,
George

We clip ours to the outer starboard shroud and lay it forward toward the bow.

Does it ding up the deck?
Re: Spinnaker Pole on Deck
Foredeck apes will ding up the deck no matter what type of stowing system you use. I also use the chainplates/shroud base to stow the pole.
Re: Spinnaker Pole on Deck
Thanks for the replies. That is how I will do it.
Re: Spinnaker Pole on Deck
Some folks will take a large SS ring and put it between the jaws of the upper shroud toggle, facing forward. You can then wrap the connection up with rigging tape so that the ring stays horizontal. Should make for a quicker stow.

Re: Spinnaker Pole on Deck
I've got a thin piece of mylar siliconed to the deck on the bow where the business end of the pole rests. Helps shield the deck from battle scars.
Re: Spinnaker Pole on Deck
not really, the pole is so light and the aluminmum pole end is usually banged down onto the bow cleat which is about the same hardness, so the pole takes more abuse than the deck.GCushing wrote:Does it ding up the deck?
(only our foredeck is allowed up there anyway, the skipper isn't allowed ahead of the traveller!)
