Re: Pulling the board out in the water?
Not a big problem using a a small marine crane. Do not attempt this using a gin pole unless its a very very beefy one.
First, get a high quality (solid) carabiner-type locking fastener that will fit through the eye on the top of the centerboard strop.
Use that to pin up the board.
Unbolt & remove the fasteners for the lift tackle. Tape over all of the holes once the board is out.
Tie at least two separate doubled lines into equal length loops. Make sure that they are equal length by twisting them if necessary. Attach the loops to the carabiner and the lift hook.
Check to be certain that no lines run across sharp angles on the inside of the crane hook.
And definitely do not try this by tying a line around the (unbolted) centerboard lift tackle.
You will also need several putty knives to use as shims. This is the tricky part. Lift the board up VERY slowly. As it reaches the top of the box, insert the shims along the lip of the board box to prevent the lip from catching the delrin sliders on the sides of the board.
Be aware that the board is pretty difficult to handle on the ground. The balance point is maybe 24" from the bottom.
Good luck.
