Coach house core
I'm trying to not put any more holes in my boat. Does anybody know if the vertical side of the coach house aft of the fixed ports is cored? Thinking of putting cam cleats there for trimming barber hauler. As usual, all input appreciated. Tom Cassidy 352

Re: Coach house core
How would this work?
Wouldn't you run the sheet through a snatch block attached to the toe rail?
By 'fixed ports', do you mean the windows or the vent ports?
FYI - some / most of the doghouse is cored. Not all, but most of the area is. You can usually 'sound it out' and determine what's up. Suggest using the hard plastic handle of a screw driver.

I think by "barber hauler" he means the 'tweakers' used to pull in the guy for the pole side of the spinnaker. For that we have 2 different setups. 477 has a small pad with a cam cleat just inboard of the rail near the base of the stanchion just forward of the cockpit. The line goes through a block clipped to the rail a bit forward of that. on 457, we have a cam cleat on the block that is clipped to the rail. i would think a cabin side cam cleat would be a too great an angle to the lead of the line to the rail.

Thanks for the replies. Apparently, all coach house sides are mainly plywood cored. Rethinking barber hauler setup thanks to headsail trimmer. He used to trim on an A Scow and we're going to try that rig this year. By the way, I also use tweakers with the same setup as Tim. Because 7.9s are so spread out on the southern shore of Lake Erie, we race JAM and PHRF. As always, really appreciate the help. Tom Cassidy Gargle Blaster 352
