Notice of Race
The Organizing authorities for the S2.79 Class Championship Regatta (CCR) are S2 7.9 Fleet 28 and the Sarnia Yacht Club. The host club is Sarnia Yacht Club, which will provide race management assisted by S2 7.9 Fleet 28.
1. RULES
This regatta will be; governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing 2009-2012 as amended on January 1, 2010 and the S2 7.9 2011 Class Rules.
2. ELIGIBILITY
The regatta is open to all S2 7.9 boats whose helmsman is a current member of the S2 class Association. To join the class association contact:

3. ENTRIES
3.1 Entries are to be submitted on the official entry form by July 31, 2011. Completed entry forms, with the entry fee, current weight certificate and Liability Insurance Certificate, shall be mailed to

3.2 The entry fee is $225 payable in US or Canadian funds. The fee includes regatta events for skipper and 4 crew members. Tickets for additional guest can be made on registration form or at registration.
3.3 Entries received after July 31, 2011 will be assessed an additional $25.00 late entry fee.
4. DIVISIONS
4.1 Each boat shall enter for either the Gold or Silver Division
4.2 The Silver Division is for skippers who have little or no experience in one design racing on the S2 7.9, or those racing with inexperience crews. No skipper who has ever finished in the top 50% of the fleet in a previous CCR or other class sanctioned regattas on an S2 7.9 is eligible to enter the Silver Division
4.3 Any boat that registers in the Silver Division and finishes in the top 33% of the fleet in two or more races in this regatta will be moved to, and scored with, the Gold Division for the entire regatta.
4.4 Only ISAF Group 1 competitors may be onboard any Silver Division boat.
5. REGISTRATION
5.1 Registration will be between 1200 and 1600 on Tuesday August 16 and between 0800 and 1600 on Wednesday August 17, at the Sarnia Yacht Club Wheel House.
5.2 A representative of each boat must report to and complete registration to compete.
5.3 Crew List and waiver of liability form signed by each crewmember must be submitted at registration.
5.4 In the event of crew substitution during the regatta, the new crewmember must submit a signed waiver to the Race Committee prior to racing for the boats entry to remain valid.
6. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
Sailing instructions will be available at registration. Changes to the Sailing Instructions and Notices to Competitors will be posed on the Official Notice Board at the Sarnia Yacht Club House.
7. RACING AREA and COURSES
7.1 The racing area will be NE of the Sarnia Yacht Club entrance.
7.2 Courses shall be Windward/Leeward
8. PROTESTS
All protests will be heard at the Sarnia Yacht Club
9. SCORING
The Low Point Scoring System, RRS Appendix A2, shall apply. If six (6) or more races are completed, a boat’s worst score shall be excluded. Three completed races shall constitute a regatta.
10. BORDER CROSSING
Sarnia Yacht Club has partnered with the Port Huron Yacht Club to allow individuals with border crossing issues to sail out of the USA.
11. AMENDMENTS TO THIS NOTICE OF RACE
Any amendments to this Notice of Race will be posted to the class web site and on the official notice board.
12. SLIPS AND DOCKING
Slips and docking will be provided free of charge at the reserved S2 7.9 Docks. If anyone would like personal docking, they can contact Sarnia Yacht Club directly. A fee will apply, contact Karen 519-332-6779 ext. 1.
13. LAUNCHING AND TRAILER PARKING
13.1 There is a ramp located at Sarnia Yacht Club available for the competitors.
13.2 Trailer Parking will be located near the yacht club.
14. MEASUREMENT/WEIGH IN
Measurement and weigh-in is required of all boats that do not have a valid weight certificate dated 8.19.2006 or later. Please plan on arriving early enough to allow 3 hours for this process. Measurement/Weigh-in will close at 1600 on Wednesday August 17, 2011.
15. EQUIPMENT
All boats shall carry a VHF radio capable of transmitting and receiving.

17. ACCOMODATIONS
All listed hotels are within a mile and a half. We have reserved blocks of rooms under the name S2 7.9 North Americans. Rooms are subject to first come first serve.

18. AWARDS
Awards will be presented as described in the S2 7.9 Class Association Rule 3A.5 and will include:
- The S2 7.9 Meter Perpetual Trophy
- Highest placing Amateur as defined in rule 3A.4.2
- Highest placing Inboard
- Places 1 through 5 in the Gold Fleet as defined in rule 3A.4.5
- Places 1 through 3 in the Silver Fleet as defined in rule 3A.4.5
- Furthest travelled over land to the Regatta.
- Furthest travelled on her own bottom to the Regatta
- Daily Trophies, 3 places each race
- Any other award as deemed fitting, appropriate or otherwise deserved by the Class Governing or Regatta Organizing Committee’s.
19. DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY
19.1 Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. (See RRS 4, Decision to race). The Organizing Authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.
19.2 The safety of a boat and its crew is the sole and inescapable responsibility of the Skipper who must ensure that
The boat is fully sound, thoroughly seaworthy, and manned by an experienced and physically able crew. Neither the establishment of regulations nor inspection of a boat in any way limits or reduces the complete and unlimited responsibility of the Skipper.
18.3 Sarnia Yacht Club, S2 7.9 Fleet 28, and their employees and volunteers do not accept responsibility for loss of life or injury to participants or others, or for the loss or damage to any vessel in any way or from any cause during or relating to this event.
18.4 The skipper shall be responsible for the conduct of his crew. In the event of a serious breach of conduct, the destruction of property or the failure to comply with a reasonable request of any Race Officer or Committee Member, the Skipper will be responsible for all damages and the boat may be subject to disqualification from the regatta.
