Riding Out Irene

Post by Jim Brinkman »

What's the consensus when mooring a boat during a hurricane, board up or down?
Thanks,
Jim

Did you leave the board up or put it down and how did your boat fair?

I ended up hauling her out, as I would have been up all night worrying. Other boats stayed on their moorings and faired well. I probably could have left her on.

Speaking from the Caribbean, with Irene past and Katja on the way, on the trailer, mast down, everything lashed together, trailer up on blocks and stored away from other boats is the only way to go.

Good to hear. It's always better to be safe than sorry.
