2012 Regatta Schedule

Post by John Spierling »

Based on the survey results listed below, here is my suggested 2012 Regatta Schedule:

Sarasota One-Design Regatta March 15 - 17
Annapolis NOOD May 4 -6
Holland Invitational June 2-3 (Tentative)
Canadian Championship June 30 - July 1 (Tentative)
CCR Holland September 13 -15
Nashville Equilizer Mid-October

There were not many East Coast boats that participated in the survey, having said this, I believe that we would have 10+ boats attending Annapolis NOOD, so I included it on the Class Schedule of regattas.

The results of the regatta survey are as follows:
17 boats responded to the survey.
10- from Michigan Area
1- from East Coast
3- from Mid-West (Tennesse/Kentucky/Arkansas)
2 - from Minnesota/Wisconson
1- from Florida

St. Pete NOOD
7 -Yes
4 - No
6 - I prefer Sarasota in March

Sarasota in March
12 - Yes
4 - No
1 - I prefer St. Pete NOOD

Annapolis NOOD
7 - Yes
10- No

Chicago NOOD
2- Yes
6- No
9- I prefer Holland in early June

Holland in Early June
11 - Yes
5 - No
1 - I prefer Detroit Nood

Detroit NOOD
1 - Yes
7 - NO
9 - I prefer Canada Championship

Canada Championship in Early July
11- Yes
6 - No

Class Championship Regatta Sept 13 - 15
15 - Yes
2 - No

Nashville Equilizer in Mid October
13 - Yes
4 - NO

Please respond if you would like to make any changes to this schedule.

Thank you John for posting the results and a schedule for the upcoming year. I am very excited for the shift in dates for the CCR as I should be able to make it. I would also like to reiterate that I am happy to host folks that want to sail more Florida events while the snow is piled high up north. There was also some scuttlebutt about folks wanting to sail on the panhandle and in Charleston, location wise these are both somewhat easy for me so I would support any movement to add a regatta in either of these locations.

Hey Guys

Mike Lippmann here from Cedar Island Yacht Club, Kingsville, Ontario on the North Shore of Lake Erie - just wondering if there would be any boats interested in an S2 7.9 One Class at our Labour Day Regatta Sept 1st/2nd?
On the 1st there is a Port to Port Race from the mouth of the Detroit River to our Club (about 18 miles) and then on Sunday we have multiple Races around a modified Olympic Course.
Saturday night we have a Steak BBQ/Party, Sunday Breakfast, Sunday Night Oktoberfest in September, Awards and a send off breakfast on Monday morning.
We have a trailer launch facility about 500 feet from the club property (just built new by the municipality) and beautiful club facilities.
We are also a Canada Border Services call in port for US visitors arriving by boat.

Let me know how much interest you might have (we have 2 S2's at the club at present and have had S2's here for many years - Kamikazee, Laughing Sally, Underdog, Yawanna to name a few)

Thanks for your time!
