Great Mark! I have not forgotten your request for some rental suggestions. I will be sailing with my crew this weekend and we will try to get you the suggestions promised.
Looking forward to hosting, the Sarasota Sailing Squadron Race Director and Manager are fully behind hosting a great event for our class.

Travis,

If at all possible, can you post the registration form or a link to access the race registration so that we can start getting boats/owners motivated into signing up for the event. Looking out at the snow falling this morning, I can hardly wait till March. 98 days, but whose counting!! If we stay at the hotels near Sarasota/Bradenton airport, how long would it take to get to the sailing center?? I was looking at the Spring Hills Suites near the airport as a place to stay while we are down there. Are there any condos or houses for rent closer to the sailing center?? Last time I raced in Sarasota (back in '97) we stayed on Lido Beach, but I see the prices of the hotels there have gotten quite pricey. Look forward to sailing on the bay again and hope to see plenty of the class out on the starting line. I think this event should be a huge sucess for the class, very much the same as Nashville has become.
Thanks in advance,
John Spierling

Matros #520 is planning to attend. Is there anyone planning to attend the Port Charlotte Conquistador Regatta March 3-4?

I was thinking of attending the Port Charlotte regatta. I was talking to Paul Latour and he is contemplating attending both of the Sarasota and Port Charlotte regattas.
I may have to get local sailors for crew.

To All:

My post above is a little confusing. Review of the posting on the front page, apparently there is a Leukemia Cup event at Port Charlotte the weekend after the Midwinters. Getting a class start is dependent upon getting enough boats. We are interested in sailing that event if it is one-design (friends don't let friends sail PHRF...). We need to confirm plans, so who is in?

Hey All,
Just FYI, I will be sending out a Sarasota Regatta Guide and the NOR to everyone I have email addresses for tonight. If you do not think I have your email address please send me a quick note via email and I will include you. travis@actionquest.com

Also, just to be clear, registration includes 5 dinner tickets for the Friday Night S2 7.9 class BBQ. Dinner tickets for Saturday are optional for our class and can be purchased at registration.

Very best,

Thinking about staying at the Spring Hill Suites, near Bradenton Airport. Looks like a 15 minute drive. Prices aren't nearly as expensive as out on Siesta Key, and SHS are usually decent places to stay.

Just tried to register for the IYC Leukemia Cup on the next weekend. Registration is under "Donations" on their club website (not very intuitive...), and I couldn't figure out how to get past the first page. Anyway, we're planning on making a week of it, and racing the next weekend. Hope we get enough uptake to get a start (should, given the number of 7.9s in the Punta Gorda area...). I have an email out to the regatta chairmen, and will share what I learn.
