I have a request for a new companionway hatch cover and I wonder if there is more interest in this item. If i get 2 orders, we will consider making a run of covers.

Re: Companionway Hatch Cover
I came across your group and it has great info. I currently have a S2 8.0B.
Would the Companionway Hatch replacement for the 7.9 also fit the 8.0B?
Mine does not have the nice SS handle, just a plastic knob. I would like to order
one if it will fit. Also need the forward hatch. neither leak, just crazed very badly.
thanks
Tim

Hey Tim,
I am interested in purchasing a new front hatch. From the date of your post, I am sure that you have already done it. What did you go with?
Thanks,
Adrian

Re: Companionway Hatch Cover
I found one for sale. A member read post and contacted me a few weeks ago. The 7.9 CW slider is the same as the 8.0B. I'm none searching for the forward Vberth hatch. The new CW is nice and tinted bronze.
Re: Companionway Hatch Cover
My hatch is good, but the slides are in bad shape. What is a good source for replacements. I have not found them in catalogs.

Re: Companionway Hatch Cover
If your hatch slides are banged up I cannot help, butif they have just gone white from exposure there is a fix.
Wipe them down with acatone until they are back to the black then paint them with a clear coat I used Minwax Helmsman.

Tim, I'm in if they are tinted or bronze. Thanks.
Re: Companionway Hatch Cover
I made new slides out of aluminum bar stock. The local machine shop cut the groove and I drilled the nounting holes. Had them powder coated black. They work great.

I originally posted a wrong number for the cost of the sliding hatch cover the cost is $375 plus freight.
Additionally we have a stock of black or white UHMW hatch slide rails at $65/pair plus freight.
These rails are long and must be cut to length for each boat.

Re: Companionway Hatch Cover
Do the hatch slide rails have the mounting holes pre-drilled?

Re: Companionway Hatch Cover
Chris, What have you learned? So my problem is just the sliding tracks. Treating them like parallel bars in the gym breaks off the top tab. It seems like Wolczyk may have the answer.
