The rudder snapped on Peregrine, #395 last night. Anyone know where I can get a replacement, new or used? The pintles/gudgeons/cheekplates/tiller are all fine, just the rudder itself broke.
Thanks,

Try Phil's Foils.
I know he has made new rudders for the 7.9 before.
Google him

I could let go of my spare (then make a new spare). I suggest contact Phil's foils 1st to see if you like what they have. Then let me know off-line if interested in one of mine.

Re: Need New Rudder
Thanks Frank and Larry for the info, very helpful indeed. When my rudder snapped the other night I had visions of being a rudderless ship for an extended period of time, but now I know I will be back in action soon. And Larry, I can confirm that it is no fun to lose a rudder, especially in big wind and chop (like it would ever break on a calm sunny day!). It was a real struggle to control the boat with the outboard, even after raising the board and trying to play powerboat.

I had a gudgeon break off in an ocean race. Which broke the other one. Had to do the outboard thing for about 20 miles.
I can truly say, no fun.

It's even less fun with an inboard just to windward of a reef. Anchors held until we were rescued. Going to see if I can learn to steer by dragging a drogue.
