Best GoPro Camera mount

Post by Ed! »

What is the best way to mount a GoPro camera at the back of the boat? I looked at the horizon true mount, but I do not have the stern rail setup. Is anybody else using a camera?

One of the J22s racing in Nasvhille last year had a bar that extended vertically from the transom to mount the gopro on. I've thought of clamping a bar or pole to my motor mount to allow for a look down into the cockpit. I just have the grab loops myself. Going to test that out this weekend. Also hoping to get some footage from my pushpit looking back up the boat as well as looking straight up into the chute when flying downwind. Might even get some shots of the front of the boat at the waterline while heading to windward.

I've used this mount...

Best part is it uses a standard tripod mount... of course this is too short to put the camera as high up as you'd like, but it'll clamp to most anything. A broomstick in the scuppers and clamp it to that and I am sure it'd work.

I don't have a fancy go-pro, mostly because I hate the fish-eye lens. I use a cheap 720p Casio camera that does WIFI... works good enough for basic shots.
