stock trailer weight

stock trailer weight
Anyone want to take an educated guess on how much this trailer weighs? It appears to be a standard s2 79 trailer.

If you mean empty, probably 800-1100lbs.
Why is the GVWR close?
If so there are a couple things you can "technically" do to increase GVWR... whether your state (PA?) accepts it is a whole other story.
A) if the axles are 3500lb axles, your max GVWR can't be more than 7k
B) if the axles are heavier, you're golden, then its a matter of leaf springs (if these aren't torsion axles, likely not they look like leafs).
C) Finally you need to look at the tires, sometimes going slightly larger on a trailer tire gathers slightly more individual tire capacity.
On the final bullet above, my most recent trailer purchase had the first capacity plate I've seen on a boat trailer that listed "GVWRatings by each different tire size." With the present tire the trailer has, it's rated to 5400lbs GVWR... but it shows where you can up the size of the tire to bring the trailer up to nearly 7000lbs GVWR. Looking at the trailer the axles are definitely 3500lb axles, with leafs.
So I guess what I am really asking is, is the GVWR to close to call and that the reason you want to know how much the empty trailer weighs?

My trailer is similar in design, but I believe mine is a little "beefier". Last year in Nashville the trailer weighed in at 1500 or 1600lbs when doing my weight certification. So I put yours at 1200 - 1400 as a best guess.

thanks for the feedback. I could only upload one photo. Here is another just for the heck of it. It doesn't have leaf springs and I am guessing Josh's doesn't either. I showed a bunch of photos of it to my welding buddy who guessed the weight to be 1200 lbs +. The thing is beefy and appears to be a custom made for the s279. dang... 4,600 + 1,400 = 6,000 lbs. My V6 Tacoma has the towing package rated at 6,500 lbs.... cutting it close.

Not sure what the F150 with eco boost is rated at to tow, but we hauled mine with that to Nasvhille from Northwest Arkansas. It handled it well and didn't have any trailer sway until we reached about 75mph. Boat on trailer weighed in at just over 6100lbs after we emptied a lot of gear out of it. Was probably over 6500lbs when being towed.

No leafs means, torsion axles (good)... Torsion axles are some of the beefiest axles around.
Yep, I've seen a lot of overkill trailers, and the new angle looks to show this as one of them. That's certainly a 2 5/16" ball which means trailer is likely rated well over #6000lbs.
I don't want to get into a tow vehicle p&ss&g match but I don't know I'd want to tow an S2 7.9 with a Taco.
But then I'm a huge fan of overkill...
NO I didn't buy the truck to pull my boat, but my horse trailer. But even for the horse trailer I have, the truck can tow about #8,000 more.

The trailer hitch shows a 6,000 lb. rating and requires a 2" ball. Thanks for the photos.
What's a good guess on the overall height from ground to mast down on the cabin top? In other words, on the road bridge clearance of an S2 on a trailer? I'm wondering how much of the boat will stick above the privacy fence.

no worries about bridge clearance, less than 10 feet.
My capri 25 was close to 11' 6"
Cab of that truck was 6'8" there were a few parking garages that were quite close.....

Your trailer looks exactly like mine for #520. It weighs #1575. We used it to weigh boats using the roll-on scale at the CCR this year, so I am very certain of the weight.

we have a wobbly wheel trailer for Hot Tamale that puts her well off the ground. the base of the hull is 14" off the axles! we measure in at 10'10" and we can slide here in the 11' opening overhead door on the barn by coaxing her carefully in and pushing the door 'way open'.
just a note: we used to drag her around with an '88 GMC Suburban 2500 that had a 15,000 max load for towing. Now we have an 01 or an 02 Tahoe that have 7,500 lbs capacity.
