Spinnaker Pole Bridle - Wire Replacement
I need to replace my bridle and would like to use something like Samson Amsteel or equivalent. Are others doing this? What diameter? When I talked to a sales person from Forespar a couple of years ago, they were using a bowline covered with adhesive shrink wrap to form eyes. Is there any reason not to use a 12 strand splice? Any reason to stick with wire?

Tom, I was aware of the issues with knots, but since Forespar wasn't splicing thought there might be issues splicing 1/8". I spliced mine and it came out fine. I used the Samson instructions, but in step three 'bury tail into standing part of line', rather than push it through, I pulled it through with a #2 knitting needle. I used some very strong but thin aluminum duct tape to attach the core to the tapered end of the needle. Eight splices takes a lot of time, I guess that's why they used the knots.
