slides for the companion way hatch.
I am looking for the black slides for both the vertical and horizontal companion way hatches. Does anyone know a source?
Companion Way Slides
I replaced mine last year. You should fax S2 at:

or write to them at:
S2 Yachts, Inc.

Tell them exactly what you need they were very helpful and fixed me up. Good Luck.

s27.9 companion way slides
We have been looking for both the slides and the companion hatch. I thought there was a source in the last s2.79 report. I am going to do some more checking for waterwheels #46. I f you already have a source let me know at pwheeler@mn.rr.com. Patty and David Wheeler

Has anyone had luck getting replacements from S2 lately? I sent a fax last year, and EMAILed Sailboats@s2yachts.com on March 5, but no reponse. Does a no-response imply they don't have them, or just too busy to reply at the momement? Hoping someone with more experience dealing with S2 can help read the tea leaves.

I made a wonderful set of companionway slides and hatchboard keepers for Frank Foote and myself out of machined solid aluminium for the slides and aluminium angle for the hatchboards. I got them anodized and they're beautiful and they'll last forever. They probably cost me about $80 US/set to make not including labour. (the anodizing was $50 US/set of 4 pcs.) The only problem is that they took an extremely long time to make since they have to look really good, (lots of sanding) and there was alot of machining required for the slides so I vowed that I would never make another set again.
If they're made out of plastic like the originals (you need to find a good grade of UV resistant material) they would be pretty easy to make since they could be cut out on a table saw and easily drilled and sanded. Being in Canada it gets pretty difficult to ship things across the border. The small sheaves and bushings I make are easy enough since they're very small but I'm not that crazy about shipping the bigger stuff. I'll look into it though and see what materials would be good to use.

Hatch slides and companionway board angles
I have replaced my companionway board angles with SS angles but aluminum should be adequate. (Racing is really hard on hardware).
I cut down the plastic hatch slides so that I could fasten stainless steel strips on the top in place of the plastic flange that was broken. It has been a permanent fix. I used the top flange that I cut off as a template for drilling the holes in the SS strips so that the screws would line up.

I would like to replace my horizontal slides on the companion way. One is broken and the other is missing about 2" up to the mounting screw. I own a machine shop but other postings suggest they can be purchased for $40. This would be the cost of the anodizing for me so it's a bargain for $40 complete. I have tried to fax and email S2 but no response. Are they still selling parts?

Sounds like you got the hatch slides instead of the 'Weatherboard Keepers'. I ordered both last year. The weatherboard keepers were $40, and are used to hold the hatchboards in place, and also keep the hatch from going past the closed postion. (they break when the hatch slams into them). Since they break so easily, I have heard many people repace them with custom aluminum or SS. The hatch slides (which mount horizontally on the cabin top) were $60.
