I have noticed that some 7.9's are not using the downhaul.
Just using the twings.
When I tried it, the pole still wanted to ride up.
Would be nice to have one less line to pull.
Need advice.

Re: Spin sailing/ No downhaul
As Spike always says the downhaul need to be the tightest line on the boat. Sailing without it allows the pole to bounce all over the place and that is wasted energy. Use the energy pulling the boat forward instead of bouncing the pole.LarryE wrote:I have noticed that some 7.9's are not using the downhaul.

If Spike says, pull it tight, I'm pulling as tight as I can.

Just remember to have your pit dude ease about 6" during the gybes! Your bow guy will be much happier
