Board up?

For those who do not dry sail do you keep the board up while in the slip? We have been tempted to raise the board while at dock to keep it clean but not sure if that creates too much stress on the mechanism. I heard that some have a locking pin to hold the board up but I do not see anywhere for that on my boat, Hull 140.

I have had my boat in the same slip since 2007. I never leave it with board up. Boat traffic will make the boat rock even more plus the board will bang around in the box. Good coat of VC17m.
