Noticed today out on lake Erie rudder has about a 1" up and down play in it. I don't see any way to adjust that out of it. Is this normal?
Thanks, Greg

Re: rudder
Where is the play?
our rudder sits on the pintles with no up/down play.
there is no play (other than pivot) in the rudder bolt.
then retaining pin allows about a 2 degree swing, but the tightness of the cheek plates keeps this from happenning.
so once our rudder is down, in place, it stays there.

Re: rudder
There is no play at upper part of rudder, it is the lower part that swings for and aft about 1". The cennter bolt is in and the six nuts are tight on the sides.

Re: rudder
do you have shims - ours are plastic, cut from gallon milk bottles - inside the rudderhead between the rudder and the side plates? These allow us to put the squeeze on the rudder by tightening the pivot pin just so, but not to tight.

Cool, We will have to look at that. Hope it doesn't hurt it to run a 60 mile round trip to Put N Bay this weekend for some well needed fun fun.
Thanks Greg
