Charleston Race Week
Not sure if this has been posted here before or not, but why don't any 7.9's come to Charleston for Race Week?

Re: Charleston Race Week
I can think of a couple of reasons:
1- it is a long way to go to get to the starting line. Unless you can race inside the harbor, it is a good hour to get out to the course.
2- the ride out to the course can be very undesirable. With tide going out and prevailing wind blowing in, the channel going out can knock the fillings out of your teeth.
3- lack of local boats. I know of only a couple of local boats in the area to promote the event.

I screwed up and put this in the wrong place. It needs to be under Regattas and Events.
Can the moderator move the topic there?
Anyway, agreed the motor out is long and can be difficult. However, if the class could muster 12 boats, (10 from out of town) there's a good chance the 7.9's could get an inside/harbor course.
The caliber of this event is unmatched in the US.
