I just gou a new (to me) 5hp 4-stroke long shaft Nissan outboard. I believe the pitch is for a much lighter boat, as I cannot get the RPMs up to the optimum power band. Does anyone know what pitch would be more appropriate for a 7.9?
I am thinking a lower pitch number will allow the prop to turn at a higher RPM for our lower displacement hull speeds.

Re: Outboard Prop Pitch Recommendation
I have had a six HP extra long shaft Nissan for about six years now.
I just use the prop that came with the motor - sorry I cannot tell you the pitch.
It works well - I don't take it over five Kts as a rule lest I come up against the hull speed.
It does five knots at about half throttle.
