Spinnaker Launching system

Post by Fred Chadsey »

I noted that one of the S2 7.9 for sale stated the boat was equiped w/ a spinnaker launching system. What is he refering to ? Is there a system available like launching an asysmetrical ?

I have a pretty good spinnaker launching system but it is expensive because it drinks a lot of beer.

He may just be talking about the system most of the 7.9's use - a bag suspended in the companionway that slides out of the way when not in use.

my spinnaker launching system is very simple, I ask the FBG to hoist away!, but later it requires much much Miller Lt; still pretty efficient overall

On that note, I used to skipper a Beneteau 305. Big masthead chute, 8,400 lb boat. The dude that did the halyard was about 6'3", 275 lbs and named Dick. We called him "Big Dick"! When I said "hoist", the next sound that was heard was the "ding" of the shackle hitting the top of the mast! What a guy!
