mast/forstay hole repair

Post by grandillusion »

Hull # 216 1983,
on the mast the tang that holds the forstay clevis pin is getting elongated, first question what in the diameter of the larger/later design pin, and is it OK to weld on the mast (to close up the hole then redrill it) is it tempered, will I hurt it ? I woud be using the TIG process of welding, thanks for any input

This question came up in 2004. I will reply to the original to bounce it to the top.
