I'd like to put together a list of all the 7.9s on Lake Erie with the goal of having a regatta or just a get together. We used to have a real presence on the lake according to guys at the Sandusky Sailing Club where we have 2 boats. Spike has said he used to come down here for Bay Week at Put In Bay all the time. So, I don't care if you're in Michigan, Ohio, Ontario, NY or PA., let's get a list who and where you are. We're not a huge class but we have one of the best boats ever built and sharing that pride should be reason enough to stay in touch. Let's hear from you. Tom Cassidy Gargle Blaster 35

Re: Lake Erie 7.9ers
Tom,
If you put together a regatta in Sandusky, Rebel would come down. What dates are you thinking about? I am sure we could get a few other Sarnia/ Detroit boats to participate (depending on dates).
Can we get Gargle Blaster and the other Erie boats to come up to Detroit NOOD, Sarnia Canadians, or go out East to Annapolis?? These three locations are not far to travel from the Sandusky area. Detroit is about 2.25 hours, Sarnia is about 3 hours, and Annapolis is about 7 hours.

Re: Lake Erie 7.9ers
John,
Thanks for the reply. It's been discouraging because I've only gotten 2 replies. We're at the very initial stages of getting this going so I'm not sure what's going to happen this year. BUT I got myself drafted into being the head of Race Governing at Sandusky Sailing Club so I'm going to introduce the idea of getting a race here. I talked about going up to Sarnia with the only other 7.9 at our club but he's not interested in traveling. I'm working in a new crew and need to see how committed they are. Sorry to be so vague but I'm going to keep trying to make something happen. Tom

Re: Lake Erie 7.9ers
There are 3 boats up at Grosse Ile that race... 2 of them weren't racing last year, but hopefully they come back out for this year. If boats from Lake St. Clair wanted to come down we could get our own class for the Ford Yacht Club Regatta if we get 5 boats total... actually any of their races we probably could get a class if we have 5 boats show up. Downriver race would be another race we could get our own class fairly easily with 5 boats.

Who are the 3 boats at Grosse Ile? Can we get them to come up and do the Detroit NOOD? or Sarnia for the S2 Canadians?? or Annapolis NOOD??? When is the Ford Yacht Club Regatta? We would be interested in coming down and racing out of Grosse Ile for a regatta. Please post some info.
Thanks.

Re: Lake Erie 7.9ers
If it wasn't so damn far I'd bring Maniac. I lived and raced in Sandusky for four years back in the mid 80s and loved it. It is a wonderful area. SSC is a nice club.
Re: Lake Erie 7.9ers
Sorry for the delay on response... 3 boats on Grosse Ile are Infiltrator, Claire's Charm, and my boat Gauntlet (106). Infiltrator I'm hoping is going to start racing this week and Claire's Charm has been in moth balls for the past 2 seasons, but I'm trying to get the owner to launch and race again. There is are 2 others on the island, but look to be setup for cruising. I saw another down at Monroe Boat Club this past weekend. If only we could get them all to race!
Ford Yacht Club Regatta is August 14th. We have a nice ramp too for trailering. http://www.fordyachtclub.com/Sailing/sailing.html I know I missed the NOOD Regatta, my crew bailed. When are the s2 Canadians?
