How do I tell if this boat is a "Grand Slam"?

Post by Stuff4Toys »

Pardon my ignorance, but we recently listed a 1986 S2 7.9 it has the center board and outboard with a blue boot strip with S2 7.9 in the stripe. Are there any other telltale signs to determine if it's a Grand Slam?

I believe that the term "Grand Slam" can be applied to all 7.9s because it was a reference to the stable of racing models -- 6.7, 7.9 & 9.1 -- and not to any variation among 7.9s.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.

You are absolutely correct. In this case it is a 7.9 Grand Slam.
At some point I believe they dropped the Grand Slam name and used just the numeric identifier.
