Water Tank Vents
This may be well known. But I'll post it anyway. On my boat I found that there were no air vents on either the sink water supply tank or the sink drain (grey water) tank. The sink would not drain at all and the hand pump struggled to pump water when the water supply tank was full. The solution I used was to create vents in each of the plastic screw-in tank access hole plugs. I drilled tiny holes (about 1/64") in the top of each plug. No water splashes out and both the mentioned problems were solved.

Re: Water Tank Vents
Neat, thanks for the post! I'm always looking for cruiserly tips for the 7.9.
Am thinking next year I'll get my water system up and running. I don't think the water tanks on my boat were ever used before, so I might just replace the supply tank in case the plastic is unstable/leeches out nasty stuff. I was pondering doing some kind of custom cap with an s-bend/elbow on top, to act as a vent and prevent water from coming out (and dust from going in). Wasn't sure about how much room I'd have, though. Quick and dirty solutions that work will let me be lazy =).

Re: Water Tank Vents
My 5 gal water tank had an extra access threaded hole in the forward top, side area.
I extended with 6" hose, and put a foot valve on it.
It may drip occasionally, but it has always been dry when ever I checked it for leaks.
